Firstly, apologies for the blog title, I couldn't resist. This posting was inspired by Jessica at What I Wore who posted a challenge for a safari chic outfit. So here's my take on that.
I love all the details on these clothes - the lace on the skirt, the rolled seams on the jacket and the twisted straps on the shoes. I couldn't resist adding the fair trade jewellery and also the world bag as the Africa map is rather suitable for the safari theme.
North East England clothes swapping news
I had a sad email today from Susie, Becca and Rachel at Magpie Swop. They are unfortunately closing the shop down (unless they can find anyone to take over). Here's what they say:
Dear SwappersSad news indeed. You'll be missed, girls. Here's hoping someone steps in.
We've had a fantastic time on this eco-adventure with you all. Due to the three of us moving on, we are reluctantly having to close. We're excited about the next stages in our lives, but sorry to be saying goodbye to the shop in Whitley Bay. We hope you all carry on swapping into the future!
All outstanding credit will be valid until our last day on the 31ST JULY, so please pass the message on to friends and family. We'll continue to take clothes in and give credit up until then, but at that date all credit will expire.
When we close, all remaining stock will be donated to local charities and shelters - we have always been and remain to the end a not-for-profit company and our purpose remains to keep clothes out of landfill. If you have clothing you would like to donate, we will happily accept it to be passed on at the end of trading.
We would absolutely love to be handing the running and ownership of the shop over rather than closing altogether. If anyone would like to take this on, either as an individual or a group, please do send us a message, or give us a call - you wouldn't have to buy the business, just take over the shop rental and bills!
Kind regards, Becca, Rachel & Susie xxx
In better news, The Big Wardrobe have announced more UK clothes swap events. Find out more about the London and Newcastle swapping events here.
